How Do I Design My Own Family Crest?

Designing your own family crest is up to you. If you are not able to trace your crest back to a long time ago, then you can design one of your very own. Making sure you use the right elements in a crest, you can be creative. By looking at the many books and websites on the net, you can get a good idea of what they look like, and lots of ideas from them. By knowing your heritage, or something about where your family originated from, you can then use that symbol as the main part of your design. Then around the main symbol, you can add items that pertain to your family in present day. For example, if your family like to play a certain sport, then you can add that to your design. If  there is an animal or symbol that represents your passions, then add that. Remember, this is your family crest design, so you can make it what you want.
